Green Day singer is back in good health, says bass player Mike Dirnt

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to the hospital a few days ago, forcing the band to cancel a show in Bologna, Italy. Now, bass player Mike Dirnt is shedding some light on the incident, and he has some good news that Armstrong is now completely recovered from his sickness, which Dirnt says was actually dehydration.

“Billie came down with heavy, heavy dehydration; it was like severe dehydration, influenza, and it was just a really, really bad situation,” Dirnt told MTV.com in a recent video interview. “He woke up in the morning and it was bad. Let’s put it this way, if you’re in your hotel room and you’re vomiting profusely, it’s not fun.” We’re glad Armstrong is doing better!

With their main man back and ready to do his thing, Dirnt added that Green Day are looking forward to rocking out new tracks from their upcoming trilogy of albums, “¡Uno!,” “¡Dos!” and “¡Tré!” during tonight’s (Sept. 6) MTV Video Music Awards show. “We’re ready to rock, we’re gonna be here, we’re gonna have a good time,” he said. “We’re going to drink chicken blood.” Let’s hope he was joking on that last part.

The MTV Video Music Awards will are live starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. For more information on the show, head to www.MTV.com.
