Pearl Jam Bass Player Announces New Side Project, Tour Dates

Pearl Jam bass slinger Jeff Ament has launched a new band called RNDM

While Pearl Jam enthusiasts patiently wait for new music from the legendary grunge band, they at least have some Pearl Jam-related side projects to keep them busy. Pearl Jam bass player Jeff Ament has gotten together with singer and songwriter Joseph Arthur and drummer Richard Stuverud, the latter of Fastbacks and Three Fish fame, to launch a new side project named RNDM. Ament explained that he got the vision to team up with Arthur while he was putting together his new solo album, “While My Heart Beats.”

“As I was finishing up my last little group of solo songs, there was one called ‘When the Fire Comes’ that just wasn’t working for me vocally,” Ament explained in an official statement. “I kept hearing his voice instead of mine. I sent Joe an email gauging his interest, and two days later, I got the track back from him. At that point, I knew there was something there — some sort of creative connection.”

RNDM are on target to unleash their debut full-length, titled “Acts,” on Oct. 30. The band are currently streaming one of the singles off the release, “Modern Times,” at via Rolling Stone.

Of course, new music is usually followed up by touring, and RNDM are set to embark on a short tour in support of the new album this November. That trek sets off at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 2 and will wrap up on Nov. 27 in Seattle. Check out the full tour roster below.
