Detroit rocker Kid Rock is set to play the halftime show at the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving Day football game
It’s a busy time for Detroit rocker Kid Rock. Not only does Kid have a new album on the horizon, “Rebel Soul,” due out Nov. 19, but the singer, songwriter and guitarist is slated to be the halftime entertainment at the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving game. He’s no stranger to the honors, as this is the second time in three years Kid Rock has played the Thanksgiving Day halftime show.
“It’s great because I’m home for Thanksgiving, number one, and it’s a huge television audience,” Rock said in an interview with Billboard. “I get to be in front of the hometown fans and it’s great to have my family down there and then go eat some turkey and watch the next football game.”
Kid Rock’s set will air during the halftime show at the Detroit Lions’ 73rd Thanksgiving Day Classic against the Houston Texans. The halftime show is sponsored by United Way, and is designed to inspire people to get involved in their communities, with a particular goal to encourage young people to be healthy and active.
In other Kid Rock news, the performer recently premiered a new track from “Rebel Soul” called “Detroit Michigan” on the Pure Michigan website.
