Maroon 5’s Adam Levin says he’s been practicing to play drums for Pearl Jam since he was 11 years old

Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine is looking out for his fellow musician. Levine, who plays drums in addition to his usual role as the frontman of Maroon 5, has heard that Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron is tied up as of late drumming for Soundgarden. Hence, Levine has taken it upon himself to let Pearl Jam know that if they’re in need of a drummer while Cameron is busy on Soundgarden’s upcoming tour, he’s there for them.

“If Pearl Jam needs a temp drummer while Matt Cameron tours with Soundgarden, I’ve been practicing to your records since I was 11. I’m READY,” Levine tweeted. In case anyone wonders if he’s joking, Levine had made it clear he’s not. “1. I’m dead serious. 2. I’m DEAD serious,” he added.

Will Eddie Vedder and the boys welcome Levine with open arms to jam with the grunge greats? Only time will tell.

Soundgarden are set to hit the road this January with a North American tour of clubs and mid-sized venues. That trek is scheduled to kick off on Jan. 18 at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., and continue through Feb. 16 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles.
