My Chemical Romance Frontman Gerard Way to Write Comic Book Series
My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way is set to write a new comic book series
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has always been a comic book fan, and now, he’s set to write an entire comic book series based on the group’s 2010 release, “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.” The series, named “The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” chronicles “the mysterious Girl” who puts up a fight against Better Living Industries, a “the tyrannical megacorporation [that] strips citizens of their individuality,” according to a statement. In other words, the moral is to be yourself.
“The original idea for the comic informed the record,” said Way said in an official statement. “The record helped refine the idea, and then [artist] Becky [Cloonan] had done a drawing of the Girl for the single ‘The Only Hope for Me Is You’ and I saw it and thought, this is the comic. It’s basically the last video, it’s the last part of the Killjoys story, while at the same time being totally its own thing.”
Look for the first installment of “The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” to arrive on June 6, 2013, via Dark Horse comics.
