Third Eye Blind, Alex Clare, Live’s Ed Kowalczyk Confirmed for 2013 South by Southwest Festival
South by Southwest Festival confirms more acts for 2013
South by Southwest Festival is only a few months away, and festival organizers have confirmed the newest collection of performers for the annual celebration. Third Eye Blind, Alien Ant Farm, the Airborne Toxic Event, Alex Clare, the Crystal Method and former Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk are the newest artists confirmed to grace the stage at the 2013 edition of the festival. They’ll join previously announced acts Of Mice & Men, Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore and the Raconteurs guitarist and co-frontman Brendan Benson.
Foo Fighters frontman has inked on to be the keynote speaker for the celebration, which he’ll give on March 14 at the Austin Convention Center, the festival’s key venue.
Kowalczyk will bring his solo show to South by Southwest. Audio Ink Radio recently caught up with Kowalczyk to chat about his solo work, and he explained that breaking away from his band Live was inspired by the desire to do something different. “Three years ago, I came to a point in my life and career where I was just bored,” he said. “It’s part of my contemplative nature to ask, ‘What’s going on here?’ I had been doing in for so long in the same way, and I really wanted to branch out and start to do new things and play with new people.”
South by Southwest is set to take place in Austin, Texas, from March 12 to March 17. The event will offer over 2,000 artists performing at dozens of venues. It’s a sea of non-stop musical bliss. For more information about the South by Southwest festival, head to the event’s official website.
