Former Metallica Bass Player Jason Newsted Would Rejoin the Band for a ‘Squillion Dollars’
Jason Newsted says it’s unlikely he’ll tour with Metallica again
Former Metallica bass player Jason Newsted left the band back in 2001, and since then, he’s kept busy with his band Voivod, among other projects. In fact, Newsted is so happy with the state of his professional life, he says he would go back on tour with the guys of Metallica only if they paid him a “squillion dollars.”
“If they were ‘brofessional’ about it and if they came as my brothers and they were professional with the meeting and they’re sitting there and looking me in the eye and the managers aren’t around,” Newsted told Metal Shrine when asked about the possibility of getting back together with Metallica. “It would have to be these 30 shows in these 45 days for this squillion dollars. But it has to be that.”’
Don’t think for a minute that Newsted has any bad feelings about the guys of Metallica, though. He says he’s still protective of the metal gents. “I love those guys and I always will and I will defend them to the end of time,” he said.
