Mumford & Sons, Eddie Vedder, Tom Morello to Pay Tribute to Bruce Springsteen at MusiCares Event
The 2012 MusiCares gala will feature Mumford & Sons, Eddie Vedder and more saluting Bruce Springsteen
Famed rocker Bruce Springsteen has been named Person of the Year by MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s key charity, and some of the industry’s biggest names are gearing up to pay tribute to Springsteen at a special show next month. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Mumford & Sons and Alabama Shakes are just a few of the players who will pay their respects to The Boss by playing his soulful songs at a gala on Feb. 8 in Los Angeles, just two days prior to the Grammy ceremony. The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, who has often cited himself as a big Springsteen fan, will host the evening.
Other rockers lining up to salute Springsteen include Sting, Neil Young, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Patti Smith, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Emmylou Harris, Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines, John Legend and Mavis Staples.
The evening is set to honor Springsteen for not only his musical career, but also his dedication to charity work. Proceeds from the MusiCares event will go to help musicians and others in the music business in need of financial, medical or personal aid.
