Foo Fighters to Start Work on New Album This Week, Says Dave Grohl
Grunge rockers Foo Fighters plan to start work on their new album this week
Foo Fighters released their seventh studio album back in 2011, “Wasting Light,” and the grunge-rock nugget debuted at No. 1 in twelve countries, proving rock and roll is alive and well. Now, it appears frontman Dave Grohl and the gang is set to start work on their follow-up to “Wasting Light” really soon.
According to NME, when Grohl was attending the Brit Awards this past Wednesday (Feb. 20), he dropped the news that the band will start toiling away on their new studio album this week. Grohl apparently told the show’s host, James Corden, that he will be “return[ing] to Los Angeles tomorrow to start work on a Foo Fighters record.” As for a timeline for the new release, that’s a bit murky. When Corden asked Grohl when Foo fans might hear the new album, Dave simply replied, “eventually.”
Of course, Grohl has kept plenty busy the past year, largely working on his new “Sound City” documentary, which chronicles the legendary Sound City Studios in California, where Grohl and Nirvana laid down tape for the group’s legendary 1991 sophomore album, “Nevermind.” The documentary is currently available via the film’s official website, and the movie’s soundtrack, “Sound City — Real to Reel,” is set for a March 12 release.
Grohl will also serve as the keynote speaker at next month’s South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. He’ll speak March 14 at the Austin Convention Center.
