The Cure to Play Austin City Limits Music Festival
British rock band the Cure to rock Austin City Limits; Local Natives and Grouplove also confirmed
The Austin City Limits Music Festival doesn’t announced its full artist lineup until Tuesday (May 7), but organizers are skillfully leaking some of this year’s performs via newspaper ads, T-shirts, bottle caps and paper cups around Austin, Texas. Now, thanks to fans tweeting their photos featuring bands’ names using the hashtag #aclfest, organizers have confirmed the first round of 2013 performers via their lineup hints page.
The big news is that legendary British rock band the Cure will perform at the festival. The band was already heavily rumored to play via an anagram spotted on the festival’s website (ERH TCUE). Now, the band’s name appears on the festival’s artist list alongside Local Natives, Grouplove, fun., Kaskade, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the Joy Formidable, D’Angelo and more. Muse recently leaked the news that they’re on the festival’s bill this year via an interview with Montreal radio station CHOM 97.7, but the festival has yet to confirm their appearance.
The Cure are already scheduled to headline Lollapalooza after they wrap up their busy summer touring schedule in South Korea, Montreal and Japan.
The remaining festival lineup will be announced Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. CT. Three-day passes run $225 and go on sale on Tuesday. Single-day tickets are not available for the festival. For more on the festivities, visit the Austin City Limits Music Festival’s official website.
