Cage the Elephant to Support Muse on Upcoming Tour, Almost Finished with New Album
Cage the Elephant will open for Muse this fall on select North American tour dates
Alternative rockers Cage the Elephant are nearing the completion of their much-anticipated follow-up to 2011’s “Thank You Happy Birthday.” According to singer Matt Shultz, the new tunes involve a lot of experimentation and playfulness.
“When we set out to make this record we had a few different vague ideas for what direction we wanted to move in musically, but as usual the end result turned out nothing like what we had originally envisioned,” Shultz said in an official statement. “There was an element of playfulness and swagger absent on our last record that unexpectedly began to surface. At the same time the songs had a more inner-directed and reflective sound.”
Cage the Elephant are expected to announce the title and release date for the coming album in the near future.
While fans will have to wait for more details on the band’s new release, that doesn’t hold true for tour dates, as Cage the Elephant has announced a string of shows opening for Muse this fall. That trek sets off Sept. 3 at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., and wrap up Sept. 19 at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City. View the full slate of tour dates below.
