Former Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist John Frusciante to Release EP
Ex-Peppers guitarist John Frusciante will release ‘Outsides’ in August
Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has dropped the news that he’ll unleash a new EP, “Outsides,” next month. As for what to expect from the upcoming tunes, Frusciante says the set offers “a ten-minute guitar solo and two abstract ‘out’ pieces of music.” In other words, this is nothing like Peppers jams.
“It’s a modern approach to the concepts of harmony found in some late 50s/early 60s free jazz and some 20th century classical,” he said in an official statement. “Making forward moving, full sounding music without resorting to any familiar musical relationships of harmony to serve as a basis has been a goal of mine for quite a while. Both songs have my style of drums and guitar solos, but nevertheless I think of them as my version of modern classical music.”
“Outsides” will arrive on Aug. 27. The set is currently available for pre-order via the guitarist’s official website, and those who pre-order “Outsides” will receive an immediate download of a bonus song called “Sol.”
