Soundgarden Frontman Chris Cornell Announces Solo Acoustic Tour
Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell is taking songs off ‘King Animal’ on the road for a solo, acoustic tour
Last year, Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell took his solo, acoustic tour across North America and Europe in support of his solo “Songbook” release. Now, Cornell has announced that he’ll take his solo show on the road once again with a lengthy tour of North America this fall, billed the “Second Songbook Tour.”
The tour is set to kick off Oct. 15 at the Balboa Theatre in San Diego, Calif., and close out Nov. 30 at the Borgata Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, N.J. Check out the full tour roster below.
While Cornell has already toured the U.S. on a solo, acoustic trek, this show won’t be like past Cornell appearances. This time around, Cornell will take acoustic versions of his songs off Soundgarden’s 2012 full-length, “King Animal,” on tour. Opening the shows will be American/Sri Lankan folk artist Bhi Bhiman.
In other Cornell news, the singer is launching a charity organization with his wife this year, appropriately called The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, which “gives aid to the most vulnerable children,” according to a release. One dollar of every ticket sold on his solo run will be donated to the foundation, and part of the proceeds will benefit ChildHaven’s Creative Music Therapy Program Expansion. For more information on the ChildHaven, head to the organization’s official website.
