Iggy Pop to Voice Role in ‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’
Iggy Pop will serve as the voice of the Caterpillar in ABC’s new series, ‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’
Michigan-bred “godfather” of punk rock Iggy Pop has signed on to take part in a new project that’s quite a divergence from his usual brand of irreverent, spirited punk music. Pop will serve as the voice of the Caterpillar in “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” a fresh ABC series that premieres at 8 p.m. EP on Oct. 10, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The upcoming ABC series is a spinoff of the network’s current hit show, “Once Upon a Time,” which revolves around a fairy tale theme. While the Who’s Roger Daltrey was originally tapped to voice the role of the Caterpillar, he had a scheduling conflict, so Pop was asked to join the cast in his place.
In other Pop news, the musician released his fifth studio album, “Ready to Die,” last April via Fat Possum Records. The 11-track collection serves up tunes that carry Pop’s trademark psychedelic punk-fueled fury, along with spirited song titles such as “Unfriendly World,” “Gun,” “The Departed” and “Burn.”
