Stone Sour’s Josh Rand gives guitar lessons in a new series of Fret 12’s DVD, ‘The Sound and the Story’
Stone Sour fans that also play guitar will likely be stoked to hear that the band’s guitarist, Josh Rand, is part of the new series of Fret 12 DVDs called “The Sound and the Story.” In other words, fans can have Rand as their guitar instructor in the comfort of their living rooms.
The new release features Rand offering over an impressive 55 lessons, including warm-ups and basic exercises designed to improve lead playing; music theory; guitar tutorials on alternate picking, finger independence, sweep picking, musical modes and exotic scales; a look at Rand’s backstage gear, including guitars, effects and amplifiers; and step-by-step instruction for how to play seven of the band’s big songs, including tunes off the band’s latest studio albums, “House of Gold & Bones Parts 1 and 2.”
In addition to the guitar playing, “The Sound and the Story” also features fresh interviews with Rand’s Stone Sour band mates Corey Taylor and Roy Mayorga.
