Vampire Weekend, Beck, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James Appear on Valentine’s Day Compilation
‘Sweethearts 2014’ will feature romantic songs performed by a variety of rockers
Valentine’s Day is coming up, but who says that means sappy songs need to be in heavy rotation? A collection of alternative rockers, including Beck, Vampire Weekend and My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, are helping to make this Valentine’s Day cool by contributing songs to a new compilation to celebrate the rosy holiday.
The release, called “Sweethearts 2014,” offers 13 covers of romantic songs. On the album, Beck puts his own spin on the John Lennon classic “Love” for the album. Vampire Weekend takes on opera singer Andrea Bocelli’s heartfelt “Time to Say Goodbye (Con te Partirò).” James pulls out a unique rendition of Bob Marley’s “Turn Your Lights Down Low.”
Fiona Apple, Ben Harper, Valerie June, Blake Mills and the Head and the Heart are a few others that appear on the release.
“Sweethearts 2014” will arrive exclusively at Starbucks stores and digital outlets starting on Feb. 4.
