On the upcoming set, Smith and Myers will offer up their acoustic versions of hits by Metallica, the Clash, Soul Asylum and more. Check out the track list for the “(Acoustic Sessions)” EP below.
Now, the guys, who call themselves Smith & Myers, have posted their performance of Pearl Jam’s “Black” on Shinedown’s official YouTube channel that won’t be featured on the upcoming covers compilation. As the story goes, Smith says he tried to get permission to release their rendition of “Black” on the upcoming EP, but Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder said “no,” so the guys can only post the song online. Other artists who didn’t give the guys permission to release cover versions of their songs include Adele, Phil Collins and Bon Jovi. The duo plans to release those songs via YouTube, as well.
Brent Smith and Zach Myers’ “(Acoustic Sessions)” EP Track List:
“London Calling” (The Clash)
“(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” (Otis Redding)
“Nothing Else Matters” (Metallica)
“She Talks to Angels” (Black Crowes)
“Blue on Black” (Kenny Wayne Shepard)
“Runaway Train” (Soul Asylum)
