Tool Tap Failure to Open on Spring 2014 Tour Dates
Failure will open for Tool on the band’s spring U.S. tour
Los Angeles-based alternative rock band Failure will open for Tool on the majority of the group’s upcoming U.S. tour dates. While the tour kicked off last night (March 4) in Spokane, Wash., Failure won’t join the run until Sunday (March 9) in Reno, Nev. The two were already slated to perform together at frontman Maynard James Keenan’s upcoming 50th birthday party, so going on tour together seems a natural progression.
“I was already excited to play with Failure at my 50th birthday party in May, with Puscifer and A Perfect Circle,” said Keenan said in a statement. “Now I get to do a few more shows with them. Best birthday ever.”
Failure and Tool have a rich history together, as they first went on a shared tour in 1992 and also performed at the 1996 edition of Lollapalooza.
“I’m seriously excited about these shows with Tool,” Failure frontman Ken Andrews said in a statement. “Looking forward to hanging with my old mates, but more importantly, it’s a chance for people to hear two bands that still really care about the long form album format and what you can do with that amount of time artistically, versus three-and-a-half minute singles.”
Failure recently reunited, playing their first show in sixteen years earlier this month at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
