The full list of 2014 Record Store Day releases it out

Record Store Day is a few weeks away, and the folks behind the annual event have unveiled their full list of special releases that will soon be available for music fans at local, independent record shops. The day is set aside to honor local record stores and offers a collection of exclusive vinyl and CD releases and reissues, with the occasional cassette.

Per usual, Record Store Day’s offering feature something for nearly every musical taste. On the classic alternative side, the offerings include Nirvana‘s “Pennyroyal Tea” single, which was slated to be unleashed in 1994, but got canceled because of frontman Kurt Cobain‘s untimely death; a reissue of Joy Division’s debut release, 1978’s “An Ideal for Living”; Green Day‘s “Demolicious” on cassette; Oasis’ “Supersonic” on 12-inch vinyl; a reissue of Velvet Underground’s “Loaded”; a live album from Mudhoney featuring the band’s Seattle’s Space Needle show, recorded by KEXP; and the Ramones’ “Meltdown with the Ramones” on 10-inch vinyl.

Addition Record Store Day offerings include some pop (Katy Perry’s “Prism” picture disc), country (Dolly Parton’s “Blue Smoke” on vinyl), classic rock (Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes’ “Live at the Greek”), hip-hop (The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Life After Death”); heavy metal (Mastadon’s “Live at Brixton”) and alternative rock (Kings of Leon’s “Wait for Me” on vinyl).

This year’s official Record Store Day ambassador is Public Enemy’s Chuck D, and his group, Public Enemy, will release a vinyl reissue of their album “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back,” in honor of the event. The holiday will take place at participating brick-and-mortar stores on April 19.

Remember: Many of these releases are only available in limited qualities, so check your local shop to make sure they’re getting in your pick, and get there early before it sells out.
