Foo Fighters, Cheap Trick, Urge Overkill and Naked Raygun to Play Chicago’s Wrigley Field
Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters have announced a summer 2015 Chicago Wrigley Field gig
Foo Fighters have booked a big show for Aug. 29 at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, and now, Foo fans know who will open the festivities. Dave Grohl and company have announced a collection of acts that will share the stage with them at the show, and they all have Chicago ties.
The show will feature the Foo Fighters, Cheap Trick, Urge Overkill and Naked Raygun, the latter which is the first band Grohl remembers seeing live. The Cheap Trick appearance is anything but a surprise, since guitarist Rick Nielsen makes an appearance in the Foo Fighters’ “Sonic Highways” HBO series, which chronicles the recording of the band’s upcoming release by the same title. Nielsen also performed with the Foos on “The Late Show with David Letterman” last week.
Tickets to see the Foo Fighters in Chicago will go on sale at 10 a.m. CT Monday (Oct. 27) via the Cubs’ website.
Keeping with the Chicago theme, the debut episode of Foo Fighters’ “Sonic Highways” HBO series was centered on Chicago. The series also had its premiere party at The Cubby Bear, which is located across from Wrigley Field.
Foo Fighters are also plotting a World Tour in support of their “Sonic Highways” album. Those dates have yet to be announced. “Sonic Highways” will arrive on Nov. 10.
