Iggy Pop and Dario Argento Joining Forces for Horror Movie
Iggy Pop and Dario Argento are raising funds for a new film called ‘The Sandman’
Iggy Pop is on target to appear in a horror flick. The legendary punk figure and Italian horror filmmaker Dario Argento have kicked off an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for the potential film. The movie, called “The Sandman,” would star Pop as the eponymous character, a “masked killer who murders his victims with a lethally jagged melon spoon,” according to the website. Argento would direct the film.
Pop isn’t a complete newbie to acting. He has played roles in movies by Jim Jarmusch and John Waters, and while those experiences have been cool, he says working under Argento’s guidance would be “a dream come true.”
“If I could play the Sandman for Dario, it would make my life complete,” Iggy stated in a video on the IndieGoGo website. “I hope I haven’t just written my own epitaph.”
The campaign’s goal is $250,000, with the funds ensuring that the two are able to “make the film we want to make our way.” Those who donate will score a variety of goodies, depending on much is donated, such as an autographed poster, executive producer credit or even a small role in the film.
The Pop and Argento IndieGoGo campaign will end on Nov. 8.
