Mother Love Bone, Metallica, Korn and Judas Priest Among Record Store Day Black Friday Offerings
Record Store Day’s official Black Friday release list includes albums by Mother Love Bone, Metallica, Korn and Judas Priest
Record Store Day has revealed the full lineup of releases for its 2015 “Black Friday” event, which offers exclusive music from various artists, and the list features a variety of big names. As for rock and metal releases, Mother Love Bone, Judas Priest, Metallica and Korn will all offer Black Friday collections.
Mother Love Bone’s offering should especially draw interest from grunge diehards. The band will release a limited-edition single with a never-before-released studio recording cover of Argent’s “Hold Your Head Up” and an unreleased version of “Holy Roller” from the recording sessions during the making of the band’s only full-length album, “Apple.” Mother Love Bone, of course, is the predecessor to Pearl Jam and featured the late Andy Wood on vocals, who died of a drug overdose in 1990.
Metal greats Judas Priest will release a 10-inch color vinyl of “5 Souls,” with the bonus tracks from the Redeemer of Souls EP, including “Snakebite,” “Tears of Blood,” “Creatures,” “Bring it On” and “Never Forget,” all of which are previously unreleased on vinyl. Korn will unleash a double-LP reissue of their 1994 self-titled debut album, while Metallica will offer their 12-inch “Lords of Summer” single, packed with a studio and live version of the song’s first pass.”
Other artists releasing albums for Record Store Day Black Friday include New Order, Mastodon, Green Day, the Flaming Lips, the Ramones and J. Mascis. For the full 2014 release lineup, visit Record Store Day’s official website.
Record Store Day Black Friday will take place on Nov. 28 in locally-owned record shops.
