Slash Says Velvet Revolver Has Been ‘Very Active Under the Radar’
Slash gives Velvet Revolver fans some hope that the band is still plotting to release new music
Velvet Revolver haven’t released a new album since 2007’s “Libertad” and have been on the hunt for a new singer to replace Scott Weiland for years. Now, Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has revealed that although there isn’t any new information about the band’s new singer, the guys are certainly actively discussing Velvet Revolver.
“The Velvet thing has just been… A lot of people are asking questions, and it’s been very active under the radar,” Slash told Radio.com. “I mean, nothing has happened with it as far as getting a new singer, so there’s nothing to talk about. But there is activity going on, and there’s people that we’ve been checking out. At some point the right guy’s gonna walk in the door, and at that point, then we’ll look into making another Velvet record.”
He added that while the band enjoyed working with Weiland, it became a difficult relationship to maintain. “We started working with Scott for that period and we made some cool music, but it was just a really, really hard thing to keep together, that exact lineup,” he said. “When you’re cutting off your nose to spite your face, there’s a point there where it’s, like, you’ve gotta either get it together or we’re not gonna suffer through this.”
Slash recently released a new solo album called “World on Fire” with his band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.
