Jack White Announces Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita as Touring Keyboardist
Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita will serve as Jack White’s touring keyboard player
Jack White canceled a string of tour dates in Mexico following the death of his longtime keyboardist Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, and he’ll resume playing shows with a Nov. 7 concert in Istanbul, Turkey. So, who will take Ikey’s difficult-to-fill place in the band?
According to a statement posted on the Third Man Records website, Queens of the Stone Age member Dean Fertita will now join White’s touring lineup on keys.
“Although it is impossible to replace Ikey, the incredibly talented Dean Fertita will be joining the band to play piano and keyboard for all of Jack’s currently announced tour dates,” the statement explains.
Owens passed away earlier this month from a heart attack. He also played guitar in White’s band the Dead Weather.
White’s European tour will run through Nov. 19. After that, he’ll take a break for the holidays, but he and his band will return to the U.S. next year for a show Jan. 28 in Nashville, Tenn., and Jan. 30 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
