Third Man Records to Release Jay Z’s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ as Vinyl Box Set
Jack White’s Third Man Records is teaming with Jay Z for a vinyl reissue
Jack White and Jay Z are joining forces for a vinyl release. Today (March 20), Jack White’s Third Man Records released Jay Z’s “Magna Carta…Holy Grail” as a limited edition vinyl collection. The album packs Jay Z’s 2013 album onto eight seven-inch records.
According to a description on the Third Man Records website, the set plays “on the theme of redacted government documents and expanding it into a full, clothbound binder with the entirety of the Magna Carta…Holy Grail album spread across eight 7″ 45rpm records, this piece conceived by Grammy-nominated designer Brian Roettinger is cryptographically breathtaking,”
While the former White Stripes frontman and Jay Z are known for being friendly, the Third Man Records reissue of Magna Carta marks the debut release from the two. White even told British GQ in 2012 that he has recorded an album with Jay Z, but that collection was never released.
Jay Z’s “Magna Carta…Holy Grail” will be limited to only 1,000 numbered copies and available via the Third Man Records store in Nashville to celebrate the store’s expansion.
