Jane’s Addiction’s Chris Chaney to Appear on Joe Satriani’s New Album
Joe Satriani’s upcoming album features a handful of seasoned musicians
Joe Satriani has announced his 15th solo studio album, “Shockwave Supernova,” will arrive on July 24. The release date makes the celebrated guitarist one of the first musicians to release his music on a Friday, as part of the new “Friday, Global Release Day” for music.
“Shockwave Supernova” has Satriani working with co-producer and engineer John Cuniberti. The two worked together on Satriani’s 1986 debut album, “Not of This Earth” and 1987’s “Surfing with the Alien,” so it’s familiar territory. The album – recorded at Skywalker Sound in Lucas Valley, Calif. – also features three musician who were recently part of Satriani’s global tour: keyboardist and guitarist Mike Keneally; drummer Marco Minnemann; and bass player Bryan Beller. Other contributors include drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, who has worked with Frank Zappa, Sting and Paul Simon, and Jane’s Addiction bass player Chris Chaney.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better band to help bring these songs to life,” Satriani said in a statement.
“Shockwave Supernova” is available for pre-order with an exclusive signed poster via Satriani’s official website. The album is also available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes and will also arrive as two-LP 120-gram vinyl.
