Dave Grohl Breaks Leg During Foo Fighters Show, Finishes Concert
Dave Grohl didn’t let a broken leg get in the way of Foo Fighters’ Gothenburg, Sweden, show
Heal up soon, Dave Grohl. During a Foo Fighters set last night (June 12) in Gothenburg, Sweden, the frontman fell off the stage and actually broke his leg. Although breaking a ligament is a major injury, Grohl had the dedication to finish the show.
Footage from the incident shows Grohl explaining to the crowd, “Hey, ladies and gentlemen. I love you, but I think I just broke my leg. I think I really broke my leg… Right now, I’m gonna go to the hospital. I’m gonna fix my leg, but then I’m gonna come back and we’re gonna play for you again…. Taylor Hawkins, you’ve gotta do it…”
Foo Fighters continued the show without Grohl, reports Consequence of Sound, and drummer Taylor Hawkins stepped in on vocals. After a while, Grohl was wheeled back on the stage and finished the show sitting in a chair with a bandage over his leg.
“I may not be able to walk or run, but I can still play guitar and scream,” Grohl exclaimed. Foo Fighters later tweeted out a photo of the x-ray, to boot.
No word yet on how the injury will influence Foo Fighters’ upcoming North American tour, which is scheduled to being July 4 in Washington, D.C.
