Switchfoot Announce 2015 Bro-Am Event
Switchfoot’s Bro-Am turns 11 this year
Switchfoot are bringing back their Bro-Am surf contest and concert for an 11th year on July 11. The event serves as a benefit for children’s charities in the Christian rock band’s hometown of San Diego.
“I’m so proud to announce our 11th year of Bro-Am — it’s shaping up to be the best yet,” Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman said in a statement. “We are deeply moved to see our community come together to help create an event that supports these very incredible kids. It remains my favorite day of the year.”
Since its inaugural year in 2005, Bro-Am has collected more than $1 million for San Diego children’s charities. This year’s event is a bit different than previous years, as it will benefit Switchfoot’s new charity, the Switchfoot Bro-Am Foundation, which is in the process of launching a music education program for children and teenagers.
Switchfoot, of course, will perform at the concert. Other bands playing this year include NEEDTOBREATHE, Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors and Colony House. Switchfoot will also be on the road this summer with NEEDTOBREATHE.
The 2015 Bro-Am will take place at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, Calif. Those who want to watch from afar will be able to stream the festivities via Switchfoot’s official website.
