From Ashes to New Prepping for Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach + In This Moment Tour
Upcoming rock tour a ‘dream come true’ for From Ashes to New
From Ashes to New blend a variety of sounds and styles into their music, from rap to rock to metal. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania, guys band recently inked to Better Noise Records and are looking ahead to a fall tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach and In This Moment. The trek will kick off Sept. 4 in Lexington, Kentucky, and continue through an Oct. 9 show in Glen Falls, N.Y.
Drummer Tim D’onofrio caught up with Audio Ink Radio to talk about the band’s “Downfall” EP, the upcoming tour and what you will, or won’t, be surprised to learn about the guys.
From Ashes to New released an EP called “Downfall” earlier this year. What’s the meaning of the EP’s title track?
“Downfall” is saying that no matter what, we’re all going to have some rough patches in our lives. But it’s not about being able to live your life avoiding adversity. Rather, it’s what we do when we’re faced with adversity that counts. Basically, we all need to believe in ourselves and trust that you can get through anything, but you don’t have to go it alone. We have been lucky enough as a band to develop a core group of followers on social media that have become very tight, almost like a family. So, if you feel alone or like you have no one to help you get through the rough patches that life throws at you, look to each other for support.
When do you expect your upcoming full-length to drop?
We’re looking at either late 2015 or early 2016 release. We don’t have it set in stone at this point.
Next up, you have a tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach and In This Moment. That’s a solid lineup! What are you most looking forward to on the run?
The lineup is like a dream come true for us! We feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be able to go out on the road with these monsters for which we have so much respect. We’re definitely looking forward to meeting and playing for all the new people who have yet to hear of us. We got to meet up with Jacoby and Tony from Papa Roach not long ago, and we had a great time with them. Good times will ensue.
What would people be surprised to learn about From Ashes to New?
I don’t know if there’s anything too shocking about us. We’re all blue collar, working class individuals from Amish Country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who have been working extremely hard to reach our goals as a band. We like getting to meet people from shows because we relate to them. We only recently were able to make music our full-time jobs, so it’s not like we’re big rock stars to which people can’t relate.
What’s the best thing so far about this musical journey for you guys?
Just getting to be on stage and sharing our music with new people every night, honestly. We love performing live and getting to mix it up with the fans after the show each night, so when people reading this come and see us live, make sure you come back to the merchandise table and say “what’s up!”
