Justin Bieber is a Nirvana fan, and Country Love is cool with that
Even if you aren’t the biggest Justin Bieber fan in the world, you have to give him credit for having good fashion sense. He’s been spotted wearing a Nirvana T-shirt multiple times and was just photographed wearing a vintage Nirvana “Heart Shaped Box” shirt at the American Music Awards last Sunday.
While seeing a pop star donning Nirvana gear raised much criticism from music fans, Kurt Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, isn’t upset at all. The Hole frontwoman tweeted in response to all the negative comments about Bieber wearing the Nirvana shirt, “You’re cool in my book, @justinbieber xc.”
According to an interview with Bieber’s stylist, Karla Welch, in Harper’s Bazaar, Bieber has sported vintage band tees for a long time, and people are just now starting to take note. Regarding the response to Bieber wearing a Nirvana T-shirt, Welch said, “Of course he’s a fan of Nirvana. I think it’s so funny that all these people are up in arms. I’m sure Kurt Cobain would be like — I mean, I can’t speak for him obviously — but I don’t think he was so snotty or that he would diss anyone who appreciated his music. I think he understood that that is like the antithesis of music appreciation. It’s so funny. But you know, fans are fans!”
Bieber got his Nirvana tee from designer Jerry Lorenzo, who re-cuts vintage rock tees and sells them online.
