What’s it like to work with Beyonce? Coldplay tell all

The guys of Coldplay chatted with James Corden on the “Late Late Show” about the band’s new studio release, “A Head Full of Dreams,” and what it was like recording music with the famed Beyoncé.

“She was wonderful. She’s lovely,” said Martin.

Martin and Coldplay drummer Will Champion added that they had to “work really hard to make it sound good,” because they were worried she might not like the song when she got into the studio. Of course, that wasn’t the case.

Beyoncé sings with the band on “Hymn for the Weekend.” She’s one of a handful of guest artists who perform on new album, which also features Noel Gallagher and Tove Lo.

Coldplay recorded the album in Malibu, California, and at several spots in London, England.

“I don’t know if I could speak for all of us, but we like to keep it fresh. We tend to get a bit too comfortable if we stay in the same place too long,” Martin said. “You lose your focus.”

Coldplay will serve as the headlining act at the halftime show at Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. They also have a world tour to promote the new album lined up for 2016, including dates in Europe, South America, North America and Asia.
