Seether’s Rise Above Fest to Feature Disturbed, Killswitch Engage
The lineup for Seether’s 2016 Rise Above Fest is out
Seether have unleashed the lineup for their annual Rise Above Fest via Billboard. The hard rock and metal festival will include performances from Killswitch Engage, Disturbed, Volbeat, Alter Bridge, Hatebreed, Memphis May Fire, Beartooth, We Came As Romans and I Prevail.
This year will mark the fourth edition of Rise Above Fest. Seether kicked off the festival in 2012 to raise funds for and awareness of suicide prevention and mental illness. Seether fans will recognize that the name of the festival is taken from the Seether single “Rise Above This,” which singer Shaun Morgan wrote for his brother, who committed suicide eight years ago. This year, the funds raised from the event will got to SAVE, Suicide Awareness Voices of Education.
“Each time we’ve done it it’s been just a little bit bigger than the one before it and we’ve managed to raise a little more money, so I definitely think we’re on a good trajectory with it,” Seether bass player Dale Stewart told Billboard. “It helps a lot that a lot of (bands) are very behind the cause.”
Stewart added, “We’ve got a lot of friends that want to come and play and help out and get some money for this charity. I think a lot of people have been affected by suicide and mental illness. It’s something people don’t want to talk about, but I definitely think it’s a lot closer to people’s hearts than we all realize.”
The 2016 Rise Above Fest will take place on Aug. 6 in Bangor, Maine. For information, head to www.RiseAboveFest.com.
