The guys of Stone Temple Pilots are in search of a vocalist

Scott Weiland has only been gone a short while, but the member of Stone Temple Pilots are already looking ahead to the future. In a message on the band’s website, the current members of Stone Temple Pilots — guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz — have stated they’re looking for a new lead singer. If you’re interested, they want to hear from you.

“As you know, prior to the untimely passing of our brother in arms, Scott (Weiland), we had been working with the incomparable (Linkin Park singer) Chester Bennington,” the post states. “What you also likely know is that having Chester front two bands of this size and scope was too much for one man to be able to do and so regretfully we had to move onto a new chapter together. This is where you come in…”

The statement continues, “We are officially announcing that we are seeking a new vocalist to front Stone Temple Pilots. We’ve already heard from many talented people, but want to make this an opportunity for many more so we’ve set up a way for you to do just that.”

Weiland was found deceased on his tour bus late last year. He was a founding member of Stone Temple Pilots and was with the band until they broke up in 2002. The group got back together in 2008, but Weiland parted ways with the guys in 2013. Bennington began serving as STP’s frontman, but left the group late last year to give his full attention back to his main band, Linkin Park.

“No one will ever ‘replace’ Scott, that was never the intent,” Stone Temple Pilot’s message says. “The intent is for Stone Temple Pilots to continue on, to evolve, and to do what we do…make music!”
