AC/DC to Resume Tour with Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose on Vocals
It’s true: Axl Rose will front AC/DC on tour this year
If you thought the rumors that AC/DC would resume their Rock or Bust tour with Axl Rose on vocals were false, you thought wrong. AC/DC have officially announced that the Guns N’ Roses frontman will fill in for longtime AC/DC singer Brian Johnson on the upcoming, rescheduled Rock or Bust tour dates. Johnson had to stop touring with the band because of major hearing problems.
“AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures,” AC/DC said in a statement. “As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing.”
The statement added, “We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment.”
The Rock or Bust tour will return with a gig May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal, and run through a June 12 show in Denmark. After the AC/DC tour, Rose will join back up with Guns N’ Roses for their summer reunion tour of North American stadiums, which kicks off June 23 at Ford Field in Detroit.
The AC/DC concerts in the U.S. that were postponed because of Johnson dropping off the tour will be rescheduled soon, the press release states, and will feature Rose on vocals.
