Festival season is here, and this spring offers a bevy of music fests for rock and metal lovers. Let’s face it: There’s nothing quite like taking in heavy sounds in an outdoor festival setting. We’ve put together a list of five of the biggest 2016 rock and metal music festivals to get on your radar.
Monster Energy Welcome to Rockville, April 30-May 1 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Big bands: Shinedown, Disturbed, ZZ Top, Five Finger Death Punch
Florida’s Welcome to Rockville will pack a punch with a mix of hard rock and modern metal bands. The first day of the event will feature Shinedown, Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me the Horizon, Sixx A.M., Hellyeah and more. The second day, it’s Five Finger Death Punch, ZZ Top, Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Cypress Hill, Sevendust and more.

Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, May 6-8 in Charlotte, N.C.
Big bands: Five Finger Death Punch, the Scorpions, Disturbed, Shinedown, Lynyrd Skynrd
The sixth year annual Carolina Rebellion has a similar lineup to the aforementioned Welcome to Rockville, but adds a slightly classic touch with the Scorpions, Alice Cooper and Lynyrd Skynrd. Other notables include Megadeth, Anthrax, Deftones, Clutch and Sevendust.

Northern Invasion, May 14-15 in Somerset, Wis.
Big bands: Korn, Chevelle, Seether, Disturbed, Shinedown
Northern Invasion brings together heavy music and camping in Somerset, Wisconsin. This year’s lineup boasts Chevelle, Disturbed, Seether, Korn, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, A Day To Remember, Bring Me the Horizon, Pop Evil and more.

Rock on the Range is one of the biggest hard rock and metal festivals in the U.S. This year, the festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. It’s already sold out, so start thinking now about next year, if you’ve always wanted to go. Performing at the 2016 edition are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Disturbed, Shinedown, Five Finger Death Punch, Rob Zombie, Bring Me the Horizon, A Day to Remember, Megadeth, At the Drive-In and many more.
