Tool Drummer Danny Carey to Guest on ‘Late Night’

Story by Anne Erickson
Danny Carey of Tool will man the drum kit on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’
Tool drummer Danny Carey has been tapped to rock the drum kit on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Carey will be the guest drummer on the show for the week starting Sept. 26.
Carey will perform with the “Late Night” house band, named the 8G Band, and he’s not the first. He joins a lengthy list of famed, previous guest drummers, including Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Brann Dailor of Mastodon, Atom Willard of Against Me! and Patrick Carney of the Black Keys.
Carey’s late night stint is purely musical—he’s not expect to do an interview, which means Tool fans won’t get an updated on the band’s hotly-anticipated new album. Tool have stated they are currently working on the follow-up to their 2006 studio set, “10,000 Days,” but — in typical Tool fashion — they haven’t revealed many specifics about the direction of the new album or when it might be released.
In other Tool news, the guys have a short U.S. tour scheduled for October. The run includes a headlining performance at the popular Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans.
