Mastodon’s ‘Emperor of the Sand’ album is inspired by real life events
After plenty of teasing, Mastodon have finally unleashed their new album details. The Georgia metal outfit’s latest release, “Emperor of the Sand,” will arrive at all the usual outlets March 31. The album will mark the band’s much-anticipated follow-up to 2014’s “Once More ‘Round the Sun.”
Bass player and vocalist Troy Sanders said of “Once More ‘Round the Sun” in a statement, “…the album ties into our entire discography. It’s 17 years in the making, but it’s also a direct reaction to the last two years. We tend to draw inspiration from very real things in our lives.”
Mastodon will also embark on a tour this spring to get the “Emperor of the Sand” tunes out there. The trek kicks off April 14 in Missoula, Montana.
