David Ellefson of Megadeth Discusses Ellefson Coffee Co.’s Grand Opening
David Ellefson of Megadeth hosts the Grand Opening of Ellefson Coffee Co. this weekend in Jackson, Minnesota
David Ellefson of Megadeth is a longtime coffee connoisseur who even has his own coffee company, Ellefson Coffee Co. While his coffee blends have been available online for a while now, Ellefson Coffee Co. is starting a new chapter with a brick-and-mortar shop.
Ellefson hosts the shop’s Grand Opening this weekend (April 7-9). He says the shop’s location in Jackson, Minnesota, is perfect.
“First, we talked about trying to do it here in Phoenix, and the people who I spoke with about it loved the idea. And then, this opportunity just landed in my lap back in Jackson,” Ellefson told Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio. “Susan Reiter had a store that’s been in that location for 14 years. The previous owner had it for seven years, and Susan has had it now for seven years.”
“And as we began to speak about her carrying some of my coffee at the shop, the conversation came to flipping the store over to my brand and the Ellefson Coffee Co. and carrying our line of coffees and the whole tie-in back to my growing up there.”
He added, “Also, because it’s right off I-90, it really became this cool location to make it not only a great coffee shop but also a great place of rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia and really a place of heavy metal legend. So, that became the whole concept. It wasn’t just to have a coffee store.”
Ellefson also says the shop is, “kind of this combination of Starbucks meets Hard Rock Café.”
