Is the next Nirvana coming? Fall Out Boy bass player Pete Wentz gives his thoughts
Fall Out Boy bass player Pete Wentz has some interesting thoughts about the state of rock. The Chicago native spoke with NME about his thoughts on where rock music is currently at and what might be in store for its future. He even discussed the idea of the “next Nirvana.”
“The interesting thing is that when I talk to my rock friends, they’re, like, ‘The next Nirvana is coming, the next Nirvana is coming,'” Wentz said. “And I’m like, ‘Yeah, the next Nirvana probably is coming, but not in the form of Nirvana.'”
When it comes to who exactly he means by the “next Nirvana,” Wentz suggested Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith.
“The reason Nirvana was a genre-killer is that it was a wave that came from nowhere,” he added. “Looking for something that sounds like that is not gonna work.”
In other news, Fall Out Boy are currently prepping to release their new studio album, “Mania,” on Sept. 15.
