“The most important aspect of making this record was redefining our sound, asking and answering the question ‘what do we sound like now?'” frontman Josh Homme said in a statement. Mark Ronson of “Uptown Funk” produced “Villains.”
“If you can’t make a great first record, you should just stop — but if you can make a great record but you keep making records and your sound doesn’t evolve,” Homme added, “you become a parody of that original sound.”
Queens of the Stone Age have also posted the track list for “Villains,” which encompasses nine tracks. The album will drop on Aug. 25.
As if that weren’t enough news, Queens of the Stone Age have also announced a lengthy North American headlining tour to promote “Villains.” The fall tour will begin Sept. 6 in Port Chester, New York and take the stoner rockers through the U.S. and Toronto before wrapping up Oct. 24 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
