Watch the new lyric video from Skillet for ‘The Resistance’

Skillet have spent much of this summer on tour, and the latest bit of news from the Christian rockers comes in the form of a new lyrics video. The band just released the clip for their song “The Resistance,” a single off Skillet’s latest album, “Unleashed.”

The lyric video, which premiered via Billboard.com, includes fiery live footage of the band, along with the lyrics splashed across the screen.

Speaking with Billboard, frontman John Cooper explains that the band penned “The Resistance” as the 2016 election was getting hot.

“There was all of this anger coming out from all different directions,” Cooper said.

“My goal with this song was not only to inspire people to rise up and speak for what they believe, but I also wanted to speak what I believe,” he added. “And that message is that, as the song says, ‘Love is the answer.’ It’s about change, it’s about respect, and it’s about loving those who you disagree with.”

Skillet is currently on tour behind “Unleashed.” The album, which dropped in August of last year, scored a pair of mainstream rock hits in “Feel Invincible” and “Back From the Dead.”
