Jay-Z dedicates a familiar song to Chester Bennington during a BBC Radio 1 appearance
Jay-Z rocked a special performance of “Numb/Encore” during the rapper’s recent appearance on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Friday.
The popular song appears on Jay-Z’s collaborative EP with Linkin Park called “Collision Course.”
The performance, which is posted on YouTube, offers a high-energy, amped up version of the Linkin Park song, which comes off the band’s 2003 album, “Meteora.” “Dedicating this song to Chester,” Jay-Z stated before performing kicking into the song.
Jay-Z also payed tribute to Bennington during a gig in London in August, which marked his first concert following Bennington’s death in July. The rapper performed “Numb/Encore” at that gig, as well. “Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight,” he stated.
A few other performers have rocked cover tunes during recent BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge include appearances. Those include Wolf Alice, who performed the Green Day track “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” and Rag’n’Bone Man, who rocked the Rolling Stones tune “Gimme Shelter.”
