Lorde Covers Bruce Springsteen’s ‘I’m on Fire’ at New Zealand Show
Alternative rock darling Lorde is such a big Bruce Springsteen fan that she recently decided to cover the legendary singer-songwriter in concert. During Lorde’s show in Christchurch, New Zealand, last week, the chart-topping vocalist sang a creative rendition of the Springsteen classic, “I’m on Fire.”
Lorde didn’t just cover the Springsteen track. She also mashed the song up with her “Pure Heroine” song, “400 Lux.” Fan-filmed footage of the performance is up on YouTube and posted below.
This isn’t the first encounter between Lorde and The Boss. During a 2014 concert in New Zealand, which is Lorde’s home turf, Springsteen covered Lorde’s popular song “Royals.” Later, Lorde commented via News.com.au that “it was the highest honor” and that she “got a little teary” when she heard The Boss covering her track.
In other news, Lorde just celebrated her 21st birthday last Tuesday (Nov. 7). She commemorated the birthday by by hiding tickets to her concerts in and around New Zealand.
Lorde is currently on the road in New Zealand and Australia to promote her latest studio album, “Melodrama,” which marks the follow-up to her 2013 breakout release, “Pure Heroine.” She is scheduled to set off on a North American tour beginning with a show March 1 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and that trek will run through a March 29 stop in Toronto.
