U2 Announces 2018 Tour Dates, ‘Songs of Experience’ Album Details
U2 has announced more details on their upcoming studio album, “Songs of Experience,” which will arrive on Dec. 1. They’ve also unveiled fresh dates for the 2018 North American leg of their eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE trek.
“Songs of Experience” will arrive on on CD, vinyl, digitally and at streaming services. A deluxe edition of the album with four extra songs will also be available on CD and as a digital download.
When it comes to how U2 wrote the tracks on “Songs of Experience,” Bono explains, in a statement, that the songs were inspired by advice given to him by Irish novelist, poet and teacher Brendan Kennelly, making this “a collection of songs in the form of intimate letters to places and people close to the singer’s heart — family, friends, fans, himself.”
The cover art for “Songs of Experience” is a striking black-and-white photo, taken by longtime photographer Anton Corbijn, of Bono’s son Eli Hewson holding hands with The Edge’s daughter, Sian Evans.
The 2018 leg of U2’s eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE North American Tour will set off May 2 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and run through a June 29 show in Newark, New Jersey. Tickets for the newly announced dates will go on sale to the general public on Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster Verified Fan service. For information, head to U2.com.
