It’s a new year, and with it comes new A Perfect Circle music. The Maynard James Keenan-fronted band has unleashed a new song called “Disillusioned,” which marks the band’s second track to appear off their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album. The track follows the release of the band’s first song off the album, “The Doomed,” which arrived last year.

“Disillusioned” song starts out with swelling guitars and Keenan’s thick, almost psychedelic-sounding vocals. It’s an intimate, quiet track, showing off A Perfect Circle’s penchant for creating subtle music that leaves just as big an impression as their lighter fare. It’s classic-sounding A Perfect Circle.

A Perfect Circle’s upcoming album will mark the band’s long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s “eMOTIVe.” The new set is expected to arrive in 2018. It’s also rumored that Keenan’s other band, Tool, will unveil a new release this year.

A Perfect Circle guitarist Billy Howerdel told Billboard in November that the band is “well over the midway point” with the new release and “still working.”

“I’ve got a studio on the road, and Maynard (James Keenan)’s still working and he’s still writing,” Howerdel said of the writing process for the upcoming album. “It’s tough on the road; I knew it was gonna be hard, but it’s been tougher than I thought it would be to get in a groove and keep going. But we’re about to have a stretch here in about a week when I think it’s going to be time to get a lot done.”

A Perfect Circle spent much of last fall on a North American tour, which ran through a Dec. 4 concert in Eugene, Oregon. View photos and a wrap-up of the band Grand Rapids, Michigan, tour stop here.
