Linkin Park ‘Have Every Intention of Continuing’

Last year was a traumatic one for Linkin Park fans, as the band’s longtime frontman Chester Bennington committed suicide on July 20. Band members, of course, were shocked at the loss. Multi-instrumentalist and rapper Mike Shinoda has kept fans in the loop on how he’s doing dealing with the tragedy via social media, and now, Shinoda has issued a statement about the future of Linkin Park.

“I have every intention on continuing with LP, and the guys feel the same,” Shinoda tweeted out. “We have a lot of rebuilding to do, and questions to answer, so it’ll take time.” Fans responded everything from, “Best news of 2018 so far,” to “This single sentence made me so happy. Thank you. Thank you.”

In addition to that tweet, Shinoda released a three-song EP, called “Post Traumatic.” The set – which features the songs “Place to Start,” “Over Again” and “Watching As I Fall” – is streaming via MikeShinoda.com. Absent from the EP is the song “Looking for an Answer,” which Shinoda performed for the first time at Linkin Park’s Bennington memorial show last fall.

“The past six months have been a roller coaster,” says Shinoda in a statement. “Amidst the chaos, I’ve started to feel an intense gratitude — for your tributes and messages of support, for the career you have allowed me to have, and for the simple opportunity to create.”

“Today, I’m sharing three songs I wrote and produced, with visuals that I filmed, painted, and edited myself,” he added. “At its core, grief is a personal, intimate experience. As such, this is not Linkin Park, nor is it Fort Minor — it’s just me.”
