Heavy Montreal and ’77 Montreal Announce 2018 Lineups
Two major music festivals based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, have announced their 2018 lineup, and the two events are also joining forces in a way. Heavy Montreal, set for July 28 through 29, and ’77 Montreal, scheduled for July 27, will both take place at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. “Weekend Warrior” passes will offer a three-day combo pass that lets attendees into both festivals.
As for the lineups, Heavy Montreal will keep things, well, heavy with the sounds of Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Underoath, Gojira, Trivium, Hollywood Undead, Asking Alexandria, Ratt, I Prevail, Baroness, Emperor, Nile, Havok, Get the Shot, Intervals, Voivod, Between the Buried and Me, Powertrip, Sleep and more. Rise Against and Suicidal Tendencies will headline ’77 Montreal, along with Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Steve Ignorant with Paranoid Vision, the Interrupters, Sick of It All, L7, the Planet Smashers and the Rezillos. Both festivals are at a new, temporary site this year, located very close to Jean-Drapeau metro and the usual festival site. The stages and activities will be located on Île Notre-Dame, as renovations are being completed on Île Saint-Hélène.
Heavy Montreal got its start in 2008 and has brought in nearly 300,000 heavy music fans to see bands such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer, the Offspring, Disturbed, Slipknot, Anthrax, System of a Down, Mastodon, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Avenged Sevenfold, Rob Zombie, Korn, and many more. ’77 Montreal was started in 1977 has been bringing punk sounds to Montreal since the ’70s.
