Alice Cooper’s Nita Strauss on Becoming a Guitarist: ‘I Was Going to Make This Happen’
Nita Strauss of Alice Cooper’s band says she believes in ‘the law of attraction’
When Nita Strauss set out to become a guitarist, she had big dreams. Now, as the guitarist of shock rocker Alice Cooper’s band, Strauss has actualized those dreams in playing to sold-out crowds every night and touring the world. As big as this success is, it’s something she truly thought would happen at this level.
“People ask me a lot, ‘Being on the cover of magazines and playing with Alice Cooper and touring the world, did you ever imagine when you were a young guitar player that this would happen?'” she said in an interview with Sweetwater. “And I hate to sound like that guy, but yeah, I did. I believe the law of attraction — whatever you put out there, you get back, and there was never a doubt in my mind that no matter what it took, I was going to make this happen.”
She added, “It is like the movie ‘Rock Star’ – I’m just a regular guy that grew up with pictures of these guys on my walls, with pictures of Steve Vai and Jason Becker and Marty Friedman. I actually had a picture of Ryan Roxie, who plays guitar in Alice now. I had a picture of an old GMP Guitars ad on my wall next to my Cacophony posters. Now I’m one of them.”
Even with so much experience on the big stage, Strauss is constantly humbled by the opportunity to perform with Cooper. “The legacy of guitar players that have played with Alice is just mind-blowing,” she said. “The fact that I get to do it is truly an honor. Even with all my law of attraction, even with everything that I’ve ever imagined, it is still an honor to be here today.”
In other news, Strauss recently performed for tens of thousands of professional wrestling fans on WWE’s 2018 WrestleMania. A clip of her performing the entrance theme for Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania 34 can be viewed below.
