Billie Joe Armstrong is hitting the road with his side project, the Longshot

Green Day is taking some time off the road in 2018, but frontman Billy Joe Armstrong isn’t slowing down a bit. Armstrong surprised fans last week by releasing his debut album with a side project called the Longshot, and now, he’s hitting the road with the band. Armstrong’s the Longshot has announced a two-month North American tour set for this spring and early summer, and the dates will span small venues throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The Longshot’s 2018 tour dates kick off May 3 in Tijuana, Mexico, and run through a June 2 show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The tour will span North America, from New York City to Los Angeles. Tickets for the gigs go on sale to the general public on Friday (April 27).

The Longshot’s debut album is called “Love Is for Losers.” The band features Armstrong, Green Day touring member Jeff Matika, as well as drummer David S. Fields and guitarist Kevin Preston.

Green Day wrapped up their “Radio Revolution” tour last fall at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The guys are working on their follow-up to 2016’s “Revolution Radio,” but thus far, there’s no word on a release date.
