Vinnie Paul Remembered by Hellyeah’s Christian Brady: ‘You Will Be In My Heart’
Christian Brady of Hellyeah has posted a heartfelt tribute to his late band mate, Vinnie Paul
In addition to Pantera, the late Vinnie Paul was in the bands Hellyeah and Damageplan. Now, Hellyeah guitarist Christian Brady has posted a tribute in honor of Vinnie, and it tugs at one’s heartstrings.
“I’m sitting here in tears writing this,” Brady says in the note. “I haven’t been able to find the words to do this…maybe I just haven’t had the will to do it yet because I knew once I did, it would make it real and I still keep hoping that this is just a horrible nightmare that I’m going to wake up from.”
“Not only was I lucky enough to meet you, I was lucky enough to be taken in as your family,” he added. “I was lucky enough to create and play music with you. I was lucky enough to have you call me your brother and tell me you love me. I was lucky enough to call you my brother and tell you I love you.”
Brady also says that Vinnie Paul was “the most incredibly generous person” he has ever had the pleasure of meeting, and that the drummer “changed my life in so many ways.”
“The only thing that makes me smile right now amidst the ocean of tears is that I know you’re with Dime again,” he states. Vinnie’s brother and Pantera guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott the victim of murder in 2004.
“You will be missed everyday,” Brady said. “You will be on my mind and in my heart for the rest of my life. I love you with all of my heart bro.”
Vinnie Paul passed away on June 22. He was 54 years old.
